So.

My grades in High School were absolutely atrocious and I am starting a community college in the fall/maybe next spring depends on how things in my personal life pan out. BMCC to be exact. I know, I know, not exactly the most reputable community college but I do plan on getting an outstanding gpa afterward.

Anyway, I have been interested in drama all of my life and my overall goal is to get into Tisch. I've performed in HS and all of that jazz but my REAL question is this. When I go to BMCC, should I major in a liberal arts foundation or should I major in Theater right away? I was leaning towards a liberal arts AA simply because the chance of credits transfering over to NYU (or any other school for that matter) is a lot greater. However, I feel like if I major in Theater, NYU admissions will believe I am seriously focused on my career and my chances of getting admitted would rise. Does it really matter? Would they think I am less interested if I just get a liberal arts degree? I have heard mixed reviews about BMCC's theater program and I just don't want to be wasting my time with mediocre studies (which I already am).

This question isn't exactly geared towards Tisch specifically (though mostly...) however I am interested on the verdict of ALL arts schools and what they would prefer.

And while we're at it, I'd like to know if there are any other BMCC students who transferred out to private schools because I don't know anybody who has and it's throwing me off.

Thank you for all and any help! :-*
