During high school I didn't do too well, due to extenuating circumstances. I am considering attending community college for a year or 2 and earning a 4.0, as well as staying active in my community. If I do this is it possible to get into a top uni. such as Rice, Cornell, Stanford, USC, Tulane, Notre Dame, etc. but particularly Rice? I have a 2250 SAT by the way but I think I could get it in the 2300s. Thanks in advance:)

Regarding transfers, you’ll need to keep the following things in mind:

#1 The % of acceptance is much lower. Most of the students with whom you’ll be competing with will be from Community Colleges (and it’s lot easier to get a 4.0). Therefore, a lot of things will come into play regarding admissions like extra curricular, community involvement etc.

#2 The admissions officers are looking for maturity in Transfer applicants, possibly work experience too.

But to your question, YES!! It’s definitely doable.
