I was wondering how do people go from community college to these big name schools like U of M, UCLA, etc. What is the process ? Do classes you take matter ? GPA for college ? When should you transfer ? Also do AP exams really matter or is it good enough that you just ok the class.
Most universities have clear information on their websites about what is required for transfers who come from community colleges. Some also have guaranteed admission plans or articulation agreements with specific community colleges. If you complete one of those plans with the required courses and GPA, you will be admitted diectlinto that specific major. Look for this information at the community college website and at the university website.
The grade you earn in an AP class is what matters when you apply to college. Once you start college, the score you get on an AP exam can be used by some colleges and universities to give you credit for a class there or to place you into a higher level class.
U of M?
Maine.
I’ll assume Michigan.
