Attempting to pull off the dream. Community college to a prestigious university. Garbage HS grades and ACT( 2.75, 27). Had a loss in my family, that really set me back. Currently at my local community college (in michigan) putting my heart into it. Applying for Fall 2011 admission to UofM LSA after this current semester(Fall 2010).
Will have 34 college credits (30 transfer) after this fall. Then applying.

Will have between a 3.6 and a 3.7 gpa. Phi Theta Kappa Member. Work full time. Taking 15 credits next semester(british lit, microecon, comp2, psychology, and sociology). If I apply by January 2011, when will they make a decision? Is it possible to be accepted from a community college? How hard will they judge my HS grades? Will they wait to see my winter grades before they make the decision? (I will have 49 credits after winter semester with around a 3.7) Essays will be spectacular, as I'm a strong writer. Let me know what you think my chances are, and what else I should be doing.

The best source of answers will be your CC’s transfer counselor. CC transfers into UM Ann Arbor aren’t unheard of. Likely, your CC will have had some as well. Your counselor will be able to evaluate you in that context. Best of luck to you.

I’ve had a lot of mixed responses from counselors/adivisors at my CC, UM admissions etc. The average GPA a community college transfer student had into lsa was a 3.7. I’ve had CC couselors said I should get in no problem. I’ve had UM admissions say 3.5 was competitive, some have said until you reach the point of 55 college credits, HS and ACT will play a role in the decision. It’s really subjective. But do you think theyl take a huge toll on my HS? Will they wait to see my winter semester grades? 49 is borderline 55… What do you think?

ahhhhh. looking to do 1 year at lsa, and then apply to ross. sounds GREEDY, but im willing to grind it out. if im not accepted, possibly organizational studies or econ. im at oakland community college. im taking 17 credits this semester, and working full time. it’s taking a toll on my body (i.e. sleeping patterns, eating patterns, study habits). might have to drop one of my classes to get thru the semester…here are some stats about community college transfers into lsa. scroll down the page. schoolcraft is on there. [Community College Transfer Web Portal | Why Choose Michigan?](http://commcoll.umich.edu/about/) … for school craft 38/66 applicants were admitted. i think your good buddy. (at least into lsa). i dont know if you’re trying to transfer directly into the CoE… but you’d be into lsa no doubt. have you met the MACRO requirements? and how bad to drops and BAD HS grades look on your app?

I did sent my HS transcript and they have my ACT scores when i did apply as freshman… it’s good link that you gave to me… thank you…
I am applying for directly into College of Engineering so they have different requirements… I am almost done with that…just one requirement left that i am taking right now…

for scraft 38/66 = 0.57 not bad… Is it only who did in lsa ?? or any college ??
