I am not technically a transfer student and I'll be going into school as a freshman but since I am homeschooled I've taken a lot of classes at my local CC (I will have +30 credit hours). I have a 4.0 at the CC and I am just worried there is an extreme difference in the level of difficulty of the classes.

Are CC classes really that much easier than University classes?

I can't say the classes I've taken were particularly difficult though I did have to put effort in, I did every assignment, went to every class, and studied for every test. I am just worried that I will get into college and be overwhelmed or not prepared enough.

I took college courses and I currently attend a cc.

Can’t say this applies to every school, but, I took courses at Penn while I was in high school (sociology, international politics, and game theory. Got As in all of the courses.) and the material is not different but the what you are expected to do can differ a lot.
Sometimes, it may be easier to get the grades at the cc because some professors expect less from community college students. Many, however, do not. We have several professors who are graduate students at Penn, Temple, and Villanova who claim that they teach their classes to the level that they do at the 4-year schools (tons of students complain about this too). You can see that the material is essentially the same for many courses by comparing the syllabus of a course at your school to that of a 4-year institution.

If you really push yourself to go beyond what is required in the class, you should have no problem adapting to the rigor of a 4-year institution.

If you look at the average grades of physics for engineering and calculus classes at a university they have the lowest averages of any class. If you look at those same classes at a CC they will be very low also.

There are classes at big universities with A- averages and the majority of classes have high averages.

CC has some blow-off classes, but then again so do universities. Really depends what classes you are taking.

If you are going from CC English and Sociology classes to a university physics class its going to be a huge step up.

Grades and class difficulty really depends on which classes you are taking.

I don’t think you should be scared at all, but you should consider what types of classes oyu took and are going to be taking.

you are expected more, as in you are expected to have the ability to study well and absorb info better than in HS or CC. also obviously upper division will be harder.
