Community College transfer admissions/acceptance

Hey guys, I am currently freaking out I haven’t gotten any results back yet and I know that it takes longer for community college students. But would someone reply back who’s a transfer student and how your admissions are coming along?
Thanks!

What schools did you apply to? When does it say on their transfer admissions page that decisions come out?

Usually transfers are notified mid March-end of April, but perhaps longer depending on the school.

Hey lol I thought I wrote it in my post. I applied to ucsd, ucsb, uci, csun, ucr, ucdavis, and ucla. My top choice is UCI though so do you have any info on that?

Hi! Well I haven’t heard anything from the UC Schools yet.

Applied to: UCI, UCR, UCLA, UCB

I did not TAG to any UC Schools.
My top choice is: UCR or UCI only because I have visited both campuses and fell in love.

I tagged to ucsb but i haven’t heard anything yet:(

@sarsar101 well yesterday UCI admitted TAG students.

Maybe UCSB will post early decisions. Whats your major??

I got heard back from UCR  I got in!!!

@Piktuto CONGRATULATIONS!!! I haven’t heard anything yet from UCR too I just checked :frowning:

:,(

Oh my major is Sociology! I didn’t see that you asked that

@sarsar101 I only applied to UCR because I thought I wouldn’t graduate on time and I got accepted on 03/08. Also, UCR was the school I have always wanted to attend. I applied as a Sociology/Adminstrative Studies major. My GPA at the moment is 3.27 and I took a class at UCR during a summer session.

You should have heard about your TAG in November so you should probably check on that ASAP…

@lovepinkk98 wow that’s great to hear! Glad you’ll be able to go to your dream school!!

@ridiarte well I applied in November at the time I was supposed to but you still have to wait for like an admission announcement like on their portal. But I know that I will get into UCSB since I had all the requirements for it but that’s my very last choice because I know the type of environment there is there (my brother goes there) and I’ve visited several times not really my type of school

Hey everyone, Im kind of freaking out and I just need everyones input on my situation. Feel free to be honest, my feeling s wont get hurt because I pretty much have already come to conclusion im not going to get accepted anywhere now…

-Major: Anthropology BA
-GPA: 3.56
-TAP Certified/Honors: Yes (alternative major Gender Studies, for ucla)

-Major Prep: last two classes are in progress, done by spring.
-IGETC: Completed besides Math. In progress, will be done spring (is this a major issue?)

Schools applied to:

UCSB: Rejected
UCLA: Waiting
UCSB: Waiting
UCI: Waiting
UCD: Waiting
UCB: Waiting

Here’s a little background of my application. I am an anthropology (BA) major with a 3.56 transferable gpa. I am TAP certified. I have decent EC’s but what stands out about my application in my opinion are my personal statements. I talked about having a stutter when i was younger and overcoming it, landing a role on a hit TV show called The Walking dead and using that money to help my mother with expenses, and the death of my father. I had a semester of all W’s due to taking a medical withdrawal because of the passing of my father from brain cancer. (I talked about that in my personal statements) I also had two incomplete’s due to this, (one for my major). However, I completed the courses and received an A in both of them. When I was filling out my application in the fall, I listed the two courses as an “incomplete” and put in the additional comments section that I made up the two courses and will be receiving an “A” in both classes by spring. (I was just waiting for the grade to be submitted by my professors). So during the transfer academic update I listed in the additional comments that both Incomplete’s were completed with a grade of an A. I do

Going into the application process, I was confident that I would get into at least one school. I was only worried about not getting into my #1 school, UCLA. But even then i thought, i had a slight chance because im TAP certified with an alternative major of gender studies. I received my first admissions from UCSB and I was rejected. I’m very shocked because Santa Barbara was honestly my safety school/least competitive school to get into in my opinion. I checked the 2017 admitted statistics for UCSB and the average GPA range admitted was 3.1 - 3.7 with a 70 percent admit rate. I’ve heard that UCSB is very strict on applicants finishing their math before the spring semester. Im currently taking statistics and am in progress, so perhaps thats a big factor in not getting in.

Now that I received my first letter and was rejected to UCSB, that makes me 0/1. Im starting to think to myself that if i didn’t get into my safety school that i may not end up getting admitted anywhere at all. Can you guys chance me? Do i have any shot at getting into UCI, UCSD, let alone UCLA as my alternative major? Everything seems like a long shot now and im pretty sad. The good news is at least now i have no expectations of getting in anywhere, so i wont be as disappointed

UPDATE: I just called UCSB admissions and they said that the only reason I didn’t get in was because my statistics class was in progress. This gives me some hope because I know UCSB is very strict on completing math prerequisite before the spring, hopefully I get in somewhere!

@Flurkz Each UC reviews your application individually and uniquely. If I were in your position, I would not be afraid. If you do not get in, there are guaranteed admissions programs to some of the schools you applied to and you can apply during May to enter school in during the winter semester. For instance, UCR has a guaranteed admission application for winter applicants. You should check out of the school you want to apply for is open for winter admissions. FYI, you can only use your guaranteed admission for one school only. If no school accepts you this semester, it will only be for a short period of time that you will be out of school.

Secondly, I took Statistics as a freshman last year at my community college. I had a classmate who had a similar GPA as you, was taking her last/only math class for the IGETC certification and got into UCI. I believe it can be possible. And it could be possible for you to enter the other schools you applied to as well. Each schools looks at your application in very different ways.

Good Luck and please let us know at the end of your decision

Guys does UCI read personal statements?

@sarsar101 UCI does read personal statements.

@Flurkz I gave you great advice on reddit and you still came here…sigh.

@ridarte I posted on both at the same time and haven’t read the Reddit response yet! Will check it out now, thanks.
