Community college transfer advice.

Hey, new to the site. Did really poorly in high school and am running out of options senior year. Just looking for some constructive advice on what the best next move is. I am on track to graduate but probably wont be able to get my gpa up enough for applications. I am guessing ill have to do community college. I currently live in Seattle but would like to go out of state for several good reasons. I would like to attend University of Wisconsin in a few years. Any constructive ideas on the quickest route there? Dont really have a lot of answers regarding the process. My grand dad went there if that makes any difference.

Bump.

I think contacting UW admissions and asking what is the profile of a successful transfer applicant will be good. Look at their site for the requirements so you can plan accordingly. Good luck.

if you think that going to cc will give you a higher chance of getting in, then go for it. Since you said you didn’t do so well in high school. Also from seattle and currently attending cc haha

If the best reasons you have for UW are it’s out of state and your grandpa went there, I would put on hold focusing on this school and work towards being a good transfer prospect in general. Certainly people have chosen colleges for less, but it doesn’t sound like you’ve spent the time considering what a good fit college would look like and considering the ones out there. I guess it can be reassuring to narrow down a big choice (“how do I pick a good set of colleges for me out of the 3,000+ out there?”) to a simple decision that’s already made, but that may not be in your best interests.
