Community College Transfer Maximum Units?

Hey Guys,

So I graduated high school June 2010 and started at a CCC in Jan 2011 due to some eprsonal issues. I am planning to apply to UC Berkeley Haas School of Business this Novemeber as a transfer student, but since Jan 2011 I have acquired about 77 units and I read on the Berkeley website that 80 units is the maximum limit. Since I still have two more pre-reqs to complete my overall units will exceed 80. I have only attended a CCC and not a 4-year college, but I am freaking out because I really don't want a little thing like taking excess units to hinder my potential admission. Does anyone know if 80 is the cap for Haas?
Please let me know because I am having sleepless nights since its the weekend and I cant call Berkeley admissions. Sorry for the lengthy post.

Thanks!

I am moving this thread to the UC Transfer subforum, in hopes that the uber-knowledgeable folks over her can help this member.

I know you’re out there, wise ones :). Can you provide some experience/knowledge re the question.

I think the 80 unit cap is only if you are coming from another 4 year.

Hi comp100, I transferred into Haas and was paranoid about everything before applying too :-). Based on my interactions with UCB / Haas admissions officers:

If all your units are from a CC, then there is no limit because there are no upper division courses available. They will only credit 70 units upon transferring though.

If you attended a four year, then the rule would apply because of upper division courses, but you didn’t so you’re fine. The best thing to do is to call Haas or ask Ms. Sun any time you have questions. Don’t rely on threads when it comes to stiff like this.
