Community College Transfer to Amherst, W&M, Vassar, and Hamilton chances

I'm a community college student and I was wondering if people can help me identify my chances at transferring to one of these schools. In chronological order I want to transfer to Amherst College, Vassar, Hamilton, and William and Mary.

My credentials are as follows:
GPA - 3.88 (unweighted)
Extracurricular Activities:
- VP of Service for Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
- Two big community service projects with this chapter
- Founder and President of the Geology Club at my school
- Peer tutor in the writing center at my school

I have a 4 year gap from my past community college, which I did poor in, however this is my current state of credentials.

Was wondering my chances for transfering into each school.
Going in as a Geology Major in these schools.

Positive/Negative Feedback will help.

Thanks!

Are you sure that you are even eligible to transfer to these colleges? Make sure you check before you spend your time and money on applications.

Regardless, I am only familiar with Amherst College which is a high reach for you.

I don’t know what you mean by a 4-year gap. I am familiar with Hamilton, and don’t think that we have any students above the age of 24. You have a great GPA, but I don’t know if Hamilton has a strong connection with community colleges and transfers. Also, make sure you check out the academics before you consider Hamilton–we do have Geosciences, but not Geology specifically.

Thanks you so much for your input!
The four year gap is when I went to a community college in 2007 and did really poor so I dropped out. I started CC again in 2011 and ended up getting good grades and invloved in the extra curricular activites. I’m just unsure how much they’ll weigh my transcripts in 2007 into the deciding factor. I want to teach the Geosciences, but what intrigues me the most about hamilton is the emphasis that they put into writing classes. I know it’s a long shot because they only accept about 15-20 transfer students, however I’m still going to apply. Thanks for your input!!

Amherst is a shot in the dark, I know… I just love the fact that 60% of Amherst’s transfer students are from community colleges and some of the stories on the Amherst Community College Transfer page on their website relates to me by starting out college and doing extremely bad, then starting school again and finding a passion of what they want to do. I do meet the 30 college-level credits to transfer, and although my gpa could be a bit higher, I think I’m still going to apply. We’ll see….
Thanks for your input it’s much appreciated!!!
