Community College Transfer to Georgetown or GW

Hi everyone! I'm new here and just trying to get some advice.

I graduated magnum cum laude with an associates of science from my community college this summer. The two schools I'm looking to transfer are Georgetown or GW. I really would rather transfer to Georgetown as they offer a B.S. in Biochemistry as opposed to GW. I had applied last year to Georgetown, but was rejected. I hadn't finished my associates at the time. However, since I've graduated I've decided to try my luck again.

I'm sort of a nontraditional student in a sense, I was homeschooled during my last two years of high school (dual enrollment at my CC), I haven't taken the SAT/ACT, or taken any APs. I had actually been out of college for almost two years because I needed to work, yet I resumed in 2006 (I was 20 then). I was still working part-time , however. As I ultimately want to become a physician, I've began to study for my MCAT (took all the core subjects + 1 semester of physics) while waiting to apply for transfer. All in all, I'd like to know what I could do to improve my chances of transferring to Georgetown or GW. I was also thinking of the University of Maryland or UVA, but because of work, I'd rather stay in the DC area. I took Physics last semester, got a D (did not take it as seriously as I should have). This brought my GPA from about a 3.6 to a 3.4. I want to improve my GPA. I was thinking of taking an AP exam, as I did not realize until a few days ago that colleges do give credit to the AP. I don't know if I can take the AP because of my age (23). I've worked in a doctor's office since I was 16. I'm proficient in medical billing, conducting interviews with patients, basic medical assistant duties. The doctor I'm working with has a case that she would like me to co-write with her. So getting an article into a medical journal is another notch I can add on my application. I'm also a Phi Theta Kappa member.

Sorry for such a long post, but if anyone would be able to tell me what I could do to make myself look more presentable to Georgetown or any other university so that I could have a better chance of transferring. Thanks in advance!

Which community college are you at? The DC area community colleges including MC, PGCC, and NOVA all have excellent transfer counseling offices that should be able to help you sort this out. They can also clue you in about your options at AU, Catholic U, and Howard as well. If you are willing to commute to Shady Grove, you may find a program that you like through [Undergraduate Programs - The Universities at Shady Grove](http://www.shadygrove.umd.edu/programs/undergraduate/)

^ OP mentioned the interest in GWU or GT.

GWU doesn’t look at hs or sat scores once you’ve accumulated 30 credits.
