Community College Transfer

Greetings,

I was wondering–what are the chances of admission for community college transfers with good GPAs at top schools?

I am a California community college student with about a 3.5 GPA (expect about a 3.7 after this semester) in difficult courses. High GPA in Math/Science courses. I didn’t do very well on the SAT I in high school (1320 combined; 720V 600M).

I’m interested in the UCB EECS program, and, failing that, physics at the best school I can get in to. Do I have a decent shot at UCB/UCLA (in either Letters&Science or the school of engineering?) Should (and can I?) retake the SAT I and SAT IIs? I can probably raise my SAT considerably, but would it matter?

Also, I’m planning on doing a research internship the summer before I apply. Will that help?

Bump. I would really appreciate some advice in this area. Thanks!

I have no idea, but a 1320 on the old SAT....how did that render community college? That score is a fairly good score and you could have gone to a state school.

Well, low GPA, for the most part. I could have gone to a state school, but I didn't have a second year of foreign language. I had intended to take it at a community college senior year, but for a couple complications that didn't work out. Since public schools can't really play with their basic admissions requirements, my admissions offers were ultimately rescinded.
