<p>Hi everyone, I recently found out I was in the running for valedictorian of my community college. They are interviewing the candidates and will choose from there. I have a 4.0 gpa and a compelling story about obstacles I have overcome. However, I get really nervous during interviews and speeches, so I'm not sure if I want to pursue it. </p>

<p>I guess my questions are:</p>

<p>1) Is this a big enough deal that I will regret not going for it? </p>

<p>2) Do I have a chance even though I have no community service or school involvement?</p>

<p>2) What kind of questions do you think the panel will ask during the interview?</p>

<p>I only have an answer for the first two questions: Yes, and Yes.</p>

<p>Interviews and speeches are nerve-wracking at first for almost everybody. Once you get going, they usually take care of themselves. You may want to talk to some of the instructors you have had at your CC and ask them what to expect.</p>

<p>Go for it. Even if you are not chosen, you’ll be glad you did.</p>
