community college versus csu?

I am stuck in the position where I'm not sure if I should go to my community college for a year or two and then try to transfer to a UC school or if I should do my four years at a csu campus. OR do two years at a csu campus and then transfer for two years at a UC school. Any suggestions?

Well, its very difficult to transfer from a CSU to a UC. It priority for students applying from different colleges goes like this CCC>UC>CSU>international.

It maybe a better idea to go to a JC and then transfer to a top UC. Plus its not that hard to get good grades at the JC. Just make sure that if you are not a science major, DONT take premed classes at the community colleges, because med schools don't exactly prefer that. Just take them after you transfer. On the other hand, if you are a science major, then you have to take all or most of the pre-reqs just to transfer(i.e medschool prereqs or major prereqs). Which could be a good thing because then you would get to skip the weeders and have a better chance of going well in upper div science(b/c at the UC, upper div science is usually graded easier than lower div ). And if you complete upper division science courses, then that surly gets rid of the stigma associated with JC science courses. I believe that I read somewhere( I think it was Davis) that if you complete your pre-reqs at the JC, then you are strongly recommended to complete some upper division science courses to show them that you can handle science at the 4yr level.

As, for CSU, Many people say that it is just as easy as a JC. And I suspect that they have lower medschool acceptance rates because of that. So why go to a "bad" school for 4yrs if you can go to a bad school for 2 years an then go to a good school for 2 more.

so should i not take any science courses at the JC? i want to be a biomedical major at UC Davis. so does that mean i should take lower division science courses at the JC?

It means that you have to complete half to all of lower division courses at the JC. UCs usually want you to get started on upper division course after you transfer. For the top UCs you would have to complete most of the prereqs by the spring or summer of the year of application. For the lower UCs(e.g davis) you just have to show that you got started on them.
