Community College vs 4 year college

I am an INTERNATIONAL FIRST TIME FRESHMAN. I want to get a B.S. Degree on Business Management.

My SAT Score is 1770 ( M 660, CR 580, W 530 )

My CBSE Class X % = 85.% ( BFS 87.5%, Maths - 95% )
My CBSE Class XII % = 75.8% ( BFS = 81.25%, Maths = 91% )

*BFS = Best of four subjects ( excluding 5th additional subject )

I was always my Maths teacher's favorite student and have excellent reccomendations from her.

ECs - Taught poor adults through my schools literacy mission, very good painter, chess club member of my school, animation club member of my school, student leader of student government ....

I wan't to save as much cost as possible so what will be a good idea for me

Going into a Community college and then transfer to a 4 Year college with Financial aid available for International students after working hard and get a GPA of around 3.75 - 4.00

OR

Directly go to a cheap 4 year college with scholarship available. ( Also recommend me one )

A VERY BIG THANK YOU FOR THE HELP

I think you should go to community college first. I don’t think that there are any cheap colleges for international students.

Community college is always a solid option for saving money, but if you can get into a 4 year college at a good price, there’s no reason to turn that down either. You should do some research into where you could get into cheaply before you take the community college route.

Some cheap 4 year colleges I am planning are Minnesota State University, Moorhead, New Mexico Highlands University, Minnesota State University, Mankato, Bemidji State University, Brigham Young University … Let know if these Universities are better or a Community college in California …

If you go to a community college in California, you will have to transfer to a four year school if your goal is to complete a bachelor’s degree. UC and CSU schools are the most common destinations. “Better” depends on which of the UC and CSU schools you are comparing.

Note that BYU is a religious school and has religion courses in its graduation requirements:

Can I try for UC Berkeley ( Hass School of Business ) or UCLA ( Anderson School of Management ) … if I study Business Administration at City College of San Francisco … and get a GPA of around 3.75 to 4.00 … or can you suggest me the CC which has highest transfer rates to UC Berkeley or UCLA …

I’m sorry but do they even give student visas to people coming to the USA to attend community college? Plus, even if you are granted transfer to a 4yr college, how is your financial aid situation going to change? Maybe go to your nearest US consulate and speak with them about how others from your country go about studying Business in American colleges.

If you want to study at a California community college with the aim of transferring to a UC or CSU, see [Welcome to ASSIST](http://www.assist.org) for information on what courses you need to take.

However, you still need to consider cost and student visa issues as noted.

Of course F-1 visas are issued to community college students! Pay a visit to the websites of the community colleges near you, and take a look at the information for international applicants!

There isn’t a lot of financial aid available anywhere for international applicants, and there aren’t a lot of scholarships available anywhere for transfer students. This means that there is almost no aid whatsoever for international transfer applicants. Your best chance for scholarship money is as a freshman. If you can’t afford to study in the US without financial aid, you need to find a place to study in your home country. Read through everything at [EducationUSA | Study Abroad, Student Visa, University Fairs, College Applications and Study in the U.S. / America](http://www.educationusa.info/) then make an appointment with the counselors at the advising center closest to where you live. Since you took the CBSE, I expect that you live in India. Here is a link to the list of EducationUSA centers in that country: [EducationUSA - Find an Advising Center](India | EducationUSA) The counselors there will be able to tell you if any students with grades and exam scores like yours have been admitted to colleges/universities that they can afford in the US in the past couple of years.

At some community colleges where I live, you can get a Bachelor’s Degree from a 4 year university without ever leaving the community college campus. You pay community college prices to get a degree from a state university.
