Community College vs. University? Which one?

Hi, i'm a junior in high school and like a lot of people, i'm thinking of going into a community college.

Why?

I didn't do so hot during the first two years of my high school career but I guess you can say i'm making up for it during my junior year.

I have a 3.0 GPA out of 4.0 (This is only including my Freshman, and sophomore year), my extra curricular are...
-Asian Club - 9th
-Italian Club 11th - Officer
-Men's A Capella - 10th, 11th
-String Orchestra - Treasurer - 9th, 10th
-Science Olympiad - Treasurer - 11th
-Chamber Orchestra - 11th
-Cross Country - 9th
-Winter Track - 9th
-Marching Band 11th - Section Leader
-Business Honor Society - 11th
-Spanish Club - 11th

(Taking the May SAT)

My intended major is Computer Science, and I reside in NY, so i'll be applying to a lot of SUNY schools and my Community College.

My question is, should I attend the first year of a university I got into even though it isn't my top choice or should I attend CC so I can transfer into the college of my liking.

Is CC a bad decision for your social life? I really want that college experience during the first year.

What are the pros and cons of a CC?

Thanks for reading!

I’m at community college now vs 99% of my friends and coworkers at universities. I don’t regret going to CC. I had sub par grades in HS and instead of wasting away four years at a bad university, I can get a 4.0 here and transfer to a better school. It certainly is a trade off though. It depends on what you prioritize. You can save money and go to CC with a clean slate then transfer or you can jump right into 4 year and get the whole college experience (away from home), social life, life long friends, etc. That’s ultimately what it comes down to. If you got into the school you want and are comfortable paying the money… go for it.
