hi! so im currently a senior in high school wanting to save money whose grades arent amazing enough to get accepted intuc berkeley
so with that in mind i was thinking if it would be better to (instead of going to the university of memphis) just go to community college and work really hard there and then transfer after two years
by the way i am interested in majoring in architecture and im out of state (tennessee specifically)..i was going to apply to some private architecture schools but i feel like i dont have enough experience and money
so basically my question is...this this plan practical? is it harder to get accepted as a transfer? and is there a better way of doing this? and please give me some tips if you have any! thanks!

i would not go to community college…

Make an appointment with the Transfer Advisor at your community college, and find out about the whole process. Community College and then transferring is an excellent choice for many students. You will almost certainly save a boat-load of money.

You do need to know that most public universities do not offer much financial aid to out-of-state students. If you were to be admitted to UCB, you would be expected to pay approximately $55,000 each year. Can your family come up with that kind of money? A better option might be to complete your BArch at U of Memphis, end then pursue an MArch at UCB or another university. If you do well enough in your BArch program, you might be offered some type of graduate assistantship which would help pay for grad school.
