For fall 2011 I applied to 4 schools: UMD, William and Mary, UNC, and UVA. If I don't get into any of the schools, what should I do? I am warming up to my current college, but am not sure if it is worth the money. Should I go to CC for a semester or a year and then try again? I'm just scared that I'll be losing out on my college experience while I'm at CC if I do go.

Everyone makes CC out to be hell on earth. It really isn’t. It’s more of a minimalist approach to college. If you find you need to go to CC, just suck it up and go.

Yeah, really, CC isn’t all that bad. Of course it varies college to college and it isn’t the full on ‘college experience’, but you can still get some great teachers, get some general ed out of the way, and learn a lot while you’re there.

Really, it is what you make of it.

I love my CC. Find a CC with a decent campus life and you’ll be fine. I’m getting a lot of the “college experience” at mine.

I ended up loving my CC too, though it took me awhile to adjust to the nontraditional college experience. If you’re serious about these schools, you should consider it. But hopefully you get into at least one this time around! Be optimistic! :)

Since I go to school in Maryland, not too far from VA, would I be able to attend a VA community college and transfer to W&M or UVA under the GAA? Or would I be better off going to to my local community college in MD and trying to transfer again?

dudeeeee you should’ve applied to mo match & safety schools i hope you can get into at least one of them/pay for it. :)

^ I think it would be a good idea to use the VA CC agreement if the commuting distance from ur house in MD isn’t a hassle but you might want to check if it only applies to in-state students…? but i’m assuming you’re instate for MD so that means that you’d pay instate tuition for UMD (which is pretty affordable if i may say)…

I forgot to mention that I applied to Virginia Tech and I’m looking for some more match schools, but honestly I go to a decent school and I don’t want to go somewhere that’s a step down. If I’m going to transfer it will be to somewhere like UVA, UMD, UNC, or W&M as I love those schools.

surfwakesnow165, I’ve been in semi-regular email contact with a transfer admissions counselor at UVA. I can send it to you if you’d like to ask her about residency.

Wow thanks Brishe! That would be great! Just PM it to me. It seems as if were applying to a few of the same schools. Good luck!

Which MD CC would you attend? Montgomery College has an excellent transfer office, and the counselors there would be able to tell you just exactly how many of their students transfer to each of the 4-year institutions on your list.

Before attending NOVA or another VA CC, you should find out if that transfer agreement with the VA universities is for any graduate of the VA CCs or if it is only for VA residents.
