I'm trying to set it up to take a math class at the local community college over the summer.

How do you go about with this? Can you only do this with schools that offer options to high schoolers, or does it matter?

Most schools, there is no problem so long as you meet the prerequisite and pay the fees.

Yep, but start asking around early just in case you need documents from your high school (transcripts, etc.).

Make sure you sign up before classes fill. Don't assume you can get into a class for much time after registration starts.

^That's why I'm starting now. :)

I'm in a town I really don't have to worry about spots filling too quickly.

I think some require a PSAT/SAT/ACT like test called compass, but if you've taken SAT/ACT and scored, like 1450 (out of 2400) or 20, you can take any course.

It depends on the community college. There are some forms you need to fill out as well.

Actually I just called, and they have what I need without having to take the SAT/ACT. (Sophomore, and my school refuses to let those who aren't juniors/seniors take it.)

Now just to get the money. I keep forgetting about the $100 per course thing. UHG.

Just wondering, but how can your school forbid anyone from taking the ACT?

By lying. My counselor told me that she would sign up all sophomores for the PSAT. Then she tells me after the deadline to register that we would be taking it in the Spring. Does she know something I don't?

COMPASS is a waste of time, but most people in my school still manage to score in the 60's (How is that possible?). There are community colleges in my state that allow you to all the exempt placement tests with a 900 R+M or W+M.

^ They can't really, but you have to go through the school councelors who will say that they don't think you're up to it, and how it's made for juniors and seniors. It's too much effort that its worth.

And yes, by lying, a passtime of all of our councelors.
