I'm in the situation that I might have to dorm in the community style dorms. Out of all of those dorms which ones are the nicest? I've toured Diveny and I know Dorman is the same exact thing, but I didn't like it, it looked really bad inside. Are the other ones the same, or is there anyone that is better?

Well, Smith and Kellum are considered worse than Dorman and Deviney by most people. Normally the only thing that people like about Smith/Kellum is that they’re cheaper than Dorman or Deviney (albeit only slightly).

None of the community-style dorms are exactly “preferred” dorms. There’s a reason that they are the last ones to fill up.

As I mentioned in your other thread, your priority number wouldn’t be one that would put you in the position of getting a community-style dorm.

I don’t know which dorm you chose, but I lived in Deviney my first year. Honestly it’s not that bad. Yes it’s old but the location is awesome (unless you have classes in the Psychology building).

Worst parts were that my ceiling was kind of falling apart - white dust all over my desk every night. But, that was likely only my room. Laundry is kind of a pain but it’s like that in pretty much every dorm. Showering and bathrooms are awkward at first but you get over it.

Overall, it was not bad at all. I wouldn’t do it again but it was a good experience.

Also, not sure if you were looking into getting a meal plan, but the main reason I chose Deviney was that it did not require a meal plan.
