How does being either a community hospital like UMKC affect learning and training compared to a university based hospital like Boston University? I could be wrong about the examples, but I just want to know if there is a significant difference in training.

I work at a non-university based, inner city hospital. Before the new laws that limit the number of hours per week residents could work we were a magnet hospital for our trauma and surg programs- drawing from Cleveland Clinic, OSU, others. The program has suffered since those universities now need to keep their own residents to staff their own hospitals. I would say that it depends on the place and the specialty you are looking at. I think our family practice program is well thought of.
