I've included two specific community service activities that I did most consistently in the activities section of the Common App. However, this isn't the only community service I've done, but the other things have only spanned a couple days or so. Should I include everything else in a single "community service" activity, or just not mention it?

Also, what do schools tend to consider as activities? Would something like a little personal project or a video game design group with some friends count, or do they only want to know about official extracurriculars/volunteering/work?

Thanks in advance!

IMO you should actually refrain from writing down every single community service activity that you’ve done. Only put down the ones that you’ve been most passionate about/that have meant something to you because you don’t want to come across someone who does many things but does them half-heartedly.

As a response to your second question - I think schools would love to hear about how you and a team of friends worked towards designing video games! The things that you put on the list don’t necessarily need to be “official” extracurriculars but also make sure they’re not something like “daily rock observing”.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input!

Also, as a semi-related question: So do they look more for depth than breadth? Or is it going to look bad if I don’t have ten activities? (I’m guessing it’s the first one, but I do tend to be a bit paranoid so I thought I’d check)
