Community Service for Indian applicants?

I am applying for undergrad in Canada, and it is a well known fact that Indian students almost never indulge in any community service.

However, I have recently found out that animal rescue counts as community service too. I have spent all my preteen years zealously rescuing stray cats and dogs in my locality, but have never actually volunteered at a legitimate animal shelter. Will my efforts still count if I include them in my application?

Firstly, your sentence " Indian students almost never indulge in any community service" can’t be more wrong. Almost every single Indian applicant does community service, and in fact lots of it.
