I want to help people, but not just through something organized through school.. or other organizations.. I want to start something myself, something big maybe, like a project. For example one girl came to my school and they started a project to get donations for a place that houses cancer patients.

The things I'm interested in are:
Music
Technology

Those are my biggest interests, although I have others. My family is also extremely low income and we have a lot of health problems including cancer, so I could do something with that too.

Please help me come up with some ideas!! Anything's appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Contact non-profit organizations in your area, near your house - and ask if they have any needs in those areas. You could refurbish computers, teach basic computer skills to the elderly or at a boys/girls club. There are usually some musical related groups that try to collect and refurbish musical instruments and donate them to low income schools. Start there - get on line - do some research, read their web pages, send them emails and call them. They have needs …

You need to find something you hate…as in, something in this world that really ticks you off. If you think about it for a second, can you pinpoint it?

Once you do, you have to reimagine the world. How do you want the world to be different based on that thing you hate? For example, I hate the public education system. I reimagined the world in such a way that education was globalized and it integrated technology extensively. It’s a stretch, but the way you reimagine the world can be as radical as you like.

Once you have that, it’s as simple as finding ways to achieve that reimagined world, step by step.

Yeah, my method is more for people that want to change something by serving their world. :P

But it’s a great way to start organizations and huge service projects, which are fun to operate and actually have a substantial effect on the world.

Of course, if you don’t want to be overwhelmed, you can start small, like with MaterMia’s ideas.

Always find a community partner, by the way–find another organization that’s doing what you want to do and see if you can hop on board.
