does anyone know when and how we will find out if we got it?

They will probably announce this week, and winners will get a letter. Not sure if people that don’t get it receive a letter also, so if you start seeing people on here say they got it and you don’t see anything, you can e-mail or call your admissions counselor and get a 100% confirmation one way or the other.

ok thanks…and when you say announce what do you mean?..like is there a place to check it

No, they will inform only by mail/UPS.

waiting is not easy!! ay carumba.

Admissions now says winners will be notified “before the end of the month.”

I just found out yesterday I received the scholarship… has anyone else heard yet? If so how much did you get?

How were you notified, want2go?

how much did you receive, if you don’t mind me asking?

I don’t know how they could mind your asking, since they asked, lol.

Congratulations. We haven’t heard anything in our household. Did you get your news via regular mail or overnight mail/UPS? And, would you mind sharing what your CS activities were like? I happened to see something posted on an Admissions blog from last year and it gave an example of a student that had won. Student had collected used bicycles from all over town and started a program where he fixed up and recycled them. Think he gave them to needy children maybe. If you had to create some type of program or organization, we are sunk.

congrats, wanttogo!!! Way to go!! (LOL)

ahh thank you everyone! i got $15,000 and i think it was ups overnight? not positive. i have been doing community service for juvenile diabetes since i was 9 so i have a long history. i’ve met with a lot of politicians such as hillary clinton and chuck schumer lobbying them to help the cause. i collected diabetes supplies to send to countries in need. i made a lot of speeches at galas, golf outings, etc. and i did a lot of other things. i put together a little booklet that outlined everything i did with pictures, news paper clippings, etc and i think that helped a lot for anyone that is looking to apply next year.

Not to be too nosy, want2go, but where do you live? If you don’t want to say, I understand, but I’m just wondering if we’re all out of luck if we didn’t get a package yesterday…

I like Tulane, but I must say I detest their positive-only notification system. With the amount of work and hope we invest into them, the least they could do is send us a computer generated letter, heck, even a mass email, letting us know that we can stop hoping and start dealing with the prospect of not receiving this or that scholarship.

Wow, way2go. That is most impressive. Congratulations again. It is clear that you have worked very hard.

Congratulations!!!

Just called Admissions about another question and asked them about notifications for the Community Service Scholarships. Was told that the letters were going out this week and both those who received one as well as those who did not receive one would receive notice. They were surprised to hear that someone had received notification via UPS because the person checked with a counselor and said that they weren’t going out until this week. I am wondering want2go, was yours definitely a Community Service scholarship and not just the regular $15,000 merit award that some receive when they are accepted? That is probably a very dumb question because I’m sure that you would know what you received, but I am happy to know that at least my D isn’t out of the running yet. So everybody else that applied, keep the faith!!

Thank you cmb! I feel a lot better now. Hopefully we’ll all be happy come Friday.

cneelz, I hope that come Friday we are indeed all very happy! Good luck

My daughter also received $15K for CSS and we are thrilled! We live on Long Island, but not sure how the notification was delivered bc we are at Destination Tulane today and have been away since Friday. A neighbor checked my mail today and read me the letter. I am writing this from the NOLA airport and don’t have time to elaborate, but will answer any questions when we get home. Best of luck to everyone. The waiting is a killer. Btw, Scott Cowen spoke this morning. It was a speech that makes the student feel very special.
