Thank you all so much! I will check my Gibson account for you! And I live in OH so everyone should expect their letters any day if you haven’t received them already!

congrats :-)

Avenlea-We’re rootin for ya!!! Keep us advised.

I did check my Gibson account and they have not changed my amount thus far, though I am assuming they will soon! Good luck to anyone else who won! Great job!

Thank you so much, avenlea! Your work sounds great! Good luck!

11dipkyle, congratulations on that! Maybe when you have a min, you could discribe what your CS community service accomplishments are. It would be good for the students who are wondering for next year. Good luck.

Absolutely! I am the Founder and President of Habitat for Humanity at Hawken School (my high school), I am also the President of the Youth United Chapter of Habitat for Humanity Geauga County (my community’s Habitat affiliate). In total for both of these positions I was responsible for fundraising over $52,000.00 which was then used to build a home for a partner family (we’re groundbreaking next weekend!) I was also invited by the President of Habitat for Humanity International to deliver a speech at the Annual Youth United Leadership Conference 2011 in Columbus, OH (One of my recommendation letters was written by the President of HFHI). In addition to Habitat, I also worked with several homeless shelters throughout Cleveland, specifically directing and producing a professional commercial advertisement for one of the women’s shelters, which was ultimately incorporated into their website. I sent that video along with a video of my speech as supplements to my scholarship material. In my Congratulatory letter they mentioned my dedication to the field of “Poverty and homelessness”. I chose homelessness as my principal theme. Thus, you should try and grow in a specific area of service because it shows passion and dedication. I hope this helps! Good luck next year!

Well, all I can say is WOW. Good luck next year.

11dipkyl-Tulane is lucky to get you. Great work!

Very, VERY impressive!! Great job, and welcome to the Tulane family!

Has anyone besides 11dipkyl heard about the CSS yet? Now that I know someone has heard I am basically beside myself with anxiety, haha… as they say, bad news travels faster than good!

Dear Laveena,

Thank you for your application for the Tulane Community Service Scholarship. At this time, the Scholarship Committee has completed its deliberations. Out of a field of applicants of unprecedented strength and quality, the committee was restricted to making 30 Community Scholarship offers. Due to the limitations on the number of available scholarships, I regret to inform you the committee was unable to offer you a Community Service Scholarship.

I do want to remind you that the faculty has selected you to be offered admission to Tulane University. As one of our admitted students, you are among the most competitive college bound high school students in America.

You may still qualify for need-based aid, but are required to submit the FAFSA and CSS Profile to be considered, if you have not done so already. If you have already applied for need-based aid, you can check your status at gibson.tulane.edu.

If there are any questions we can help you with, please feel free to contact your admission counselor.

I would be honored to have you join us as a member of the Tulane family.

Oh Avenlea! I’m really sorry.

Me too, avenlea. Naturally I hope you still find a way to make it to Tulane, but if that is just not possible financially, we wish you more than the best at OSU.
