I'm from MA and I'm deciding between McGill and a few small colleges. One thing that I liked about the small schools was that everyone seemed pretty close b/c they all lived in residence on campus. When I visited McGill, it didn't seem like there was that sense of community b/c the dorms are farther from campus and they only live there freshman year. Am I just over analyzing the situation or is there really no sense of community at McGill?

I'm in a similar position, trying to decide between McGill and some liberal arts schools that are < 1/10 its size. From what I understand, there's more of a community feel during first year residence than any other time, because people generally move off campus after their first year. During that year, however, you'll be living in a more intimate setting with cafeterias and meal plans and all that, so I feel like that helps. Anyway...I'm in the same predicament. Hm.

Thanks for your help. Great to know I'm not the only one!
