I'm new here on cc so I apologize beforehand if this is the wrong forum or something because i wasn't sure where to post this.

I am currently a senior in high school right now and this time of the year is when everyone has been getting their acceptance letters. I only applied to calstates. (northridge, lb, la, fullerton, &calpolyslo) As of right now, I only got accepted into la & northridge, and im waiting on fullerton. Fullerton was my first choice, but I feel like my chances of getting into it are getting smaller and smaller as each week passes by.

My grades in high school are not outstanding. I started out with a 3.5 freshmen year and then to a 3.1 sophomore year. I failed a semester of ap us history junior year (&made it up during the summer) so my gpa dropped even lower to a 2.83 . My highest SAT score was 1920 and I passed my ap lang exam. I was lazy during high school and didn't care much for studying. But seeing my best friends get into UCLA & UCSD, I feel like I need to change my work ethics. I need to start setting higher goals.

I don't want to go to Northridge or LA so if I don't get into Fullerton, I'll be enrolling in community college next fall. I've just recently decided that I would like to be an optometrist (i put undecided on my college apps) so I was wondering if it would be a better choice to...

attend a 4year cal state and then apply to an optometry school

OR

attend a community college to do my prereqs and then transfer to a UC and then apply to an optometry school?

Also, if i picked the latter choice, is it important which cc i attend? and which UC would be the best choice to go to if i wanted to apply to an optometry school?

Any personal stories that are similar to my situation would be much appreciated. Thanks!
