I'm interested in attending Seton Hall, but I come from fairly far away, and one of my biggest concerns is that the campus empties out come Friday until classes resume on Monday.

I'd really like to know whether or not there are parties on campus, how active Greek life is, and if there are an abundance of kids who depart frequently.

Thanks for the help.

Get a publication called College P R O W L E R, it will fill you in and that is why I decided not to accept.

im transferring out of seton hall come fall and yes - campus does empty out for the weekend. also - most parties are off campus, there is not a whole lot to do on campus. im not from the area so it was a problem for me too. if this is something you are worried about, i would have to say seton hall isnt the school for you

That pretty much eliminates Seton Hall...

Thanks for the help, though.

hey i am from outta state and i know multiple people who have attended and all of them say that the out of staters usually hang together on weekends and when it is baskerball season the grand majority stay on campus

The other problem I had was that the Greek system completely dominates the campus. if you aren’t Greek, you’re called a “random” and you might as well live in the library all four years. I like to party, but I don’t want someone telling me who I have to party with, you know?

waves – being greek or not really isnt that big of a deal. there are plenty of non greek parties and even the greek ones most of the time its just like any other party (you dont need to be greek). also - ive never even heard of someone being called a “random” except on this site, so dont worry about that.

yankee – its true that the out of staters do hang together on the weekend. most of my friends are from out of state (i am too). it isnt like on the weekend you are sitting in your room alone, its just that there is a lot less to do than on a campus that has a lot of people there for the weekend.

if you’ve got any other questions ill try and help. good luck with your decisions

Many Students live on and off campus commuters do not make up as much of the population as it once was…I would say about 30% commute…Key is making a large group of friends and get off campus…go into NYC down town South Orange, Hoboken, or Morristown all the surrounding towns have great night life.
