commuting from apartment?

So right now I live in a dorm, but next year my roommate is moving to a friend's apartment so I don't really have any living plans set in stone. Some of my friends at a college 30 minutes away from mine are getting an apartment, but they need one more person. My question is: would it be worth it to drive 30 mins to school every day from an apartment if it meant living with my best friends?

No one can answer this but you. How available is parking near your classes? Can you afford to maintain a car and cost of parking permits? Is weather an issue? Can you afford to lose an hour or more a day? Will being off campus affect your ability to be in clubs or study groups?

True, guess I just need to think and meditate real long and hard on this one. Thanks for the advice though!

Also depends on the cost of the actual apartment. If you were to live closer to campus or on campus, which are both obviously more expensive, does the additional cost of gas still make the apartment that is further away cheaper? Probably depends on how efficient your car is with fuel. Just another thing to think about. And living 30 minutes away, depending on where you live, you probably want to leave an hour before your class time to add cushion for traffic, finding parking, and getting to your class. That is something else to consider. You’d have to leave at 8:30 for a 9:30 class, whereas on campus you can leave at 9:20 for a 9:30 class.

30 min is pretty far. Why so far away?
