Commuting from Bart to UC Berkeley?

Hey everybody! So, recently I've gotten accepted into Cal and I wanted to know about commuting to UC Berkeley by Bart as I live about 40 minutes away from Cal. Like what kind of discount Bart pass can I get? Is commuting to UC Berkeley efficient and not too expensive?

Thanks in advance :)

i don’t think you get any discount with bart. but your UCB ID works as free bus pass. should be fast for downtown berkeley station to berkeley campus

I’m not aware of any special discounts you get can with BART. I recommend comparing the costs of living at home vs at the dorms (e.g. do you save more money by traveling on BART by not spending money on the dorms/apartment).

The Berkeley BART station is a block west of campus, but most classrooms are on the east side of campus (up a hill), so take that into account when planning trip times.

Living in the dorm during frosh year is advantageous in some ways (makes it easier to connect with other students and the school, as well as access student services that frosh are more likely to need during the transition from high school to college), so if you can afford it, that may be worth considering, while reserving the commute option for future years if needed to keep costs down.

^^^Thanks everybody  . The issue is that my family can’t really afford dorming right now,so I kind of have to live with them for free housing :P. However, I was wondering does anybody know about the clipper card? What it is?

The Clipper card is basically a way to store money to use for public transportation, including BART.

A lower cost option of living near campus is the BSC co-ops.
