How are the residence halls? I understand that they are great places to make friends and are close to campus, but realistically, wouldn't it be better to commute? How are the bathrooms at the halls? (That's my main concern). I'm thinking of living in a "theme" residence hall if I have to but I'm leaning more towards commuting and taking the bus. Any suggestions/comments?

It depends on how close you live to the school. Personally, I live on the Eastside so commuting will be a pain.

I’d say if you live in an area with reliable transit to the UW, then go for it. If not, I’d dorm for convenience, and also to meet new people and become part of a new social environment.

It also depends on your class times, which can vary from day to day, I’d dorm if you don’t want to deal with changing commute times.

If light rail came to the Eastside right now I’d be commuting…but it’s not here yet and won’t be until 2021 or so.

Dorm bathrooms are shared. They’re also cleaner than your typical high school bathrooms, as everyone here is a student. Women bathrooms are locked so only girls can enter with keys. Bathrooms are no problem, as a boy in Lander I’ve never had to wait.
Showers, I’ve never had to wait either, but I’m sure that depends on when you shower.

If you can finance it, living in the dorms is a great experience. You meet so many people, can be more active in the community, and get many more connections. It’s a great opportunity if you can front it.
