is commuting from home allowed during freshman year, or are we required to live on campus?

Commuting is allowed, even your freshmen year, my friend is doing that. I think that you may have to attend a commuter orientation.

oh ok thanks! [:

I hope that you choose to live in the dorms for at least the first year, even if you CAN commute. There’s no replacement for the friendships you make living together freshman year.

i would absolutely love to live in a dorm. however, it would just be too expensive for me right now. but, i’m sure there’s a way to make friends even as a commuter.

Have you considered trying to set up an apartment, then? For some fairly complicated reasons, I’m commuting up from Logan Square (Chicago) right now, and I absolutely cannot wait to not do that any more. Even if you have friends already, it’s a lot harder to see anyone when you have to drive a ways to get to campus. If you have any interest in partying, it gets even more annoying.
