I know Umass Amherst has a better academic reputation overall relative to Umass Lowell. However, UML is up and coming and does have strong STEM programs, specifically Comp Sci. I would appreciate any input I can get. Thanks.
Have you been accepted to both? If so, is there a significant financial difference?
Lowell has a great history in engineering and sciences, all the way back to when it was the standalone, ULowell.
However, price and personal campus preference being equal. It’s not really equivalent at this time in CS. Amherst is among the very, very top public cs universities in the country. It’s also a much more traditional college and campus experience.
Unless there’s a financial or personal situation that makes Lowell a better option for you. The choice is fairly straightforward.
However, if either of those categories make Lowell a better choice, you’ll get a fine education there as well.
