Comp Sci @ Carnegie Mellon as a female?

I am very much interested in computer science. For most schools, I'm looking to major in CS and a science that is compatible with a pre med route.
HOWEVER, I know that CMU is one of the best if not the ABSOLUTE best CS school in the country.

I really like CMU and it's interdisciplinary nature. I figure, due to the competitiveness of SCS, I should apply into SCS then add my second major if I attend.

So here's my question: will being female help me get into SCS @ CMU? Or will it be just as tough for me as it is for all males?

Sorry if this question offends anyone, I'm just curious! If it's going to be as competitive for a female, I would apply into Arts and Sciences and either TRY adding a comp sci or double major in another field.

Although I can’t say I’m a reliable expert on this, I believe schools like CMU and GTech have been making efforts to balance their male:female ratios.

Although it probably won’t help as much as Hooks/URMs, it definitely won’t hurt.

Thanks for your response! I appreciate it :)

It helps as much as urm, but SCS is incredibly competitive anyways so it’s still difficult to get in. Also, if you’re looking for a dual major try there BAxBS program or something. Look into it.

Thanks for the recommendation  I definitely will.
