At Spring Demo Day yesterday, the dean of Viterbi said the Comp Sci (Games) major was becoming so incredibly popular that the number of applicants doubled in this year's application pool. Specific numbers were not given, but if you were one of the lucky admits in this major this year, you beat some very hard odds. Congratulations.

Btw, almost every member of my S's advanced game project team (both Comp Sci (Games) and SCA Interactive Entertainment) already have received multiple offers and signed contracts with amazing jobs lined up after they graduate next week. They will soon be working at such firms as Riot Games, Rockstar, EA, Microsoft Games, Liquid Entertainment, thatgamecompany, Sony Games, and many many more.

Agreed. Most everyone in my son’s CompSci/Games major have received jobs! Some have offers of six figures! Maybe our son’s know each other Mad Bean!

I bet our kids know each other, bbgg. Did he do a senior project?

It’s been cool hearing about all the seniors landing jobs. They’ve worked very hard and I’m grateful it’s really paying off. My S’s friends in SCA - Interactive have also been very fortunate to have so many job opportunities. There are an enormous number of game development companies located in California and game design is one of the few creative/entertainment type areas that is madly hiring right now. Feel like our sons are in just the right place at just the right time.

DadInNeb, your S has so many exciting opportunities ahead of him. It is not an easy major–I hear EE is especially hard. But there is such positive energy in Viterbi. Those who do well there tend to do very well in life.

Madbean, I knew several EE/CS students when I was in college & hopefully conveyed to him the difficulty of these majors, especially @ USC he will no longer be the smartest person in the room.

When we were at Explore, I was also impressed by the energy at Viterbi. All the students were quite remarkable. The visit certainly conviced us that SC is the place for him. We are most appreciative of the Trojan Family for thw wonderful scholarships and FA.
