Comp Sci major missing one major req. for transfer by Fall 2016

Hey guys, so I decided to switch my major at the last minute from Applied Math/Econ to Comp. Sci. and because of this I could not obtain a Physics class for this semester. My dilemma is that I will not be able to finish my Physics sequence by next fall for transfer. Will I still be a competitive applicant for UCs? Or will they throw out my application? Another thing is that I know I will not be able to take this class during the summer before transfer because community colleges dont usually offer thislast physics class in the sequence during the summer. Will I be able to take the last physics class at a UC? I read somewhere that UCs prefer that you finish a sequence at one school. Also will my TAG to UCI be rejected because I’m missing this class?

Im especially concerned because I really do not want to spend another year at city college because of one single class… Should I be worried? And what are my options?

If it matters:
I have about a 3.8 GPA (looking to raise it this semester
Major GPA is a little higher
California resident
Exemplary amount of ECs (one engineering related)
All math done up to Linear Alg/Differetial Eq by end of next spring
IGETC completed for UCs by the end of this fall
IGETC completed for CSU by end of Spring semester.
I am also applying to Cal Poly Slo/SJ state

Sorry if this post is a little long! And thank you guys!!!

Is physics required or recommended?

Required

You will need to complete it by this spring.

^Yep

Yeah I was rejected from Santa Barbara for missing a ‘required’ pre-req. The recommended ones you may pass on, but when it says req’d it really means it’s req’d.

The BA CS majors at UCB and UCSC do not require physics:

The BA CS major at UCSD requires two science courses from physics, chemistry, and biology; it does not look like they need to be a sequence in the same subject:

It appears that the BS CS major at SJSU is similar:

The BS CS major at CPSLO requires either a physics or chemistry sequence, plus a biology course:

UCSB is known to be very strict on required courses (That is one of the reasons why I won’t be applying there since my college does not offer 2 of their required prereq’s)

UCI has a lenient TAG for CS. All you need is calc 1 and calc 2, c++ and java (if these are considered a year of transferable courses).

Oh, for some reason I thought the full physics sequence was required for UCI. I guess it is only required for Computer Engineering majors. Thanks for pointing that out, I was worried because UCI is one of my top choices and having that as a guaranteed school is such a huge relief.

I also want to attend Cal Poly Slo but it looks like my chances are not great due to the fact I will not be finished with my major reqs in time. Should I still apply?
