Comp Sci

Hello everyone,

I would like to major in computer science in college, and I have a few questions.

What are the best massachusetts schools for comp sci?
Is it an extremely difficult major?
Is it a fun and rewarding major?
What kind of things compose the average computer science major’s classes aside from core curriculum?
What jobs can I get with this major?
Are the jobs well paying?

MIT, Tufts, Harvard, Northeastern, and BU all have good programs.

It depends, it takes a certain type of person. Some find it easy, some drop after the first semester. You’ll want to be well versed in mathematical reasoning, logic, and computer skills, and learning all of the above easily.

Yep, it’s very fun for many.

I’m not sure what you’re asking with that question? The core curriculum of the university or CS?

Software Engineering is the most abundant. Other jobs exist in engineering (working the software side of EE), Artificial Intelligence, and developing stuff like new languages. Software Engineering is the most abundant and also pays well.

UMass Amherst is also a good choice

Here is some info on Tufts

WPI is strong particularly in robotics
Umass Amherst is strong particulary in AI
Umass Lowell is an up and coming program
