I recently visited Cornell and really liked that kind of school it was. What other schools would Cornell students consider to be similar to Cornell that a prospective student would benefit from looking into in his college search?

There are a small LAC's I liked but visiting Cornell gave me more of an interest in mid-sized to large universities. The amount of diversity in the course offerings and the sheer extent and magnitude of everything was really impressive.

If it matters to know I'm interested in social sciences/humanities, my grade average is a low A with lots of APs and my SAT score is ~2300. So for academics I am pretty typical for this level and I don't want anything entirely science devoted.

Cornell is most similar to Northwestern, Penn, and Harvard in terms of an expansive and diverse private research university. Cornell is obviously the only one of those to be in a collegetown.

Farther down the pecking order you will find a lot of the big state schools, like UVa or Michigan similar to Cornell.

I see Cornell as being equal to Penn, Brown, Dartmouth, Northwestern, and Duke and a bit ahead of USC, Emory, Ann Arbor, UVA. Cornell is only slightly behind HYPSM and perhaps Columbia but really all of these schools I mentioned are amazing in their own areas

When D2 was thinking of transferring I sent her some links pertaining to an area of study she was interested in pursuing. I came across that email the other day, and one of the links was actually a program at Cornell College.

I wonder of anyone accidentally submits an application to the wrong Cornell?
