My friend has her heart set on Comparative Literature and on Amherst, so no matter what, she’s going to Amherst. However, I have suddenly developed an interest in Comparative Literature (someone explained what it meant to me, and I took an incredible Spanish Lit class at Brown when I visited, so now I’m very interested), BUT I don’t think Amherst offers Comp Lit as a major. Does it? If not, does Amherst let you design your own major (I heard it does)? If so, is there anyone who has experienced that process and could comment on it?

Thanks for your time! As you can see, I am caught between Amherst and Brown, and while I could see myself at either school, I’m hoping that being able to do Comp Lit at Amherst will be the deciding-factor for me, if nothing else will.
