Compare yourself to a character in common app essay?

This question is about common app essay option #4, which says:

"Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence."

My question is: can you use this prompt to compare yourself to a fictional character? My essay would be about how I'm basically a real-life version of this character. I guess I would tie the "influence" thing in with how this character reminds me of myself/made me see myself more clearly as a person.

Is this too much of a stretch? Or do you have suggestions about a better angle to take?

Thanks for the input,
katmandu

It’s not a stretch at all. Read the first part of the prompt. A character from fiction. That’s exactly what you said.

Alright. My problem was that the character didnt really change me, but i guess thats okay.
