Comparing current SAT to Common Data Set?

I’m sorry if this is remedial but,

As an example, the 2016-2017 common data set for NCState lists the 25-75% range Math SAT as 600-690. How does this compare to my D’s 540? Does she need to add a minimum of 60 points (assuming that the 25% percentile is the bare minimum) or something greater?

If you google, there is a chart to correlate new and old scores on SAT.

That means her hurdle is 20 more points. She’ll be delighted!

That means 25% of NCSU’s last Freshmen Class scored below 600 so she would still be considered. The Common Data Set should also give a breakdown of percent of students within each 100 point range.

I get the meaning of 25-75%. I’m assuming that anytime you’re in the bottom quartile of anything you’ve got an uphill battle, especially if the school places great importance on the element. NCSU is all about the numbers - GPA and tests. Her GPA is above the average but probably not enough to make up for her score. The scattergram of our accepted students doesn’t look good. She’ll need to get serious.
