Comparing FA Packages

emeraldkity - yeah, good point. I think it said that I would be working between 8 to 10 hours per week and I figured it up that I'd be in school for approximately 8.5 - 9 months of the year, therefore around $7/hr though my math may be bad. Either way, it didn't seem like enough so and 2,000 isn't really a big dent in the overall price, though thanks for pointing out how working a summer job will effect my EFC next year.

pjp - ha. I hope you're right then. I'll update this thread once I find out if I even get into Wesleyan and know what my financial aid award is.

re summer job
the way our EFC was calculated assumed that D would be working a summer job and contributing about $3,000 a year ( which she did)
Not working that job- wouldn't have decreased the EFC, but we still would have had to find a way to come up with the money.
As we (& she) already were taking out loans to pay for college, we didn't want to take out more to cover income that she could have earned.
It was really a nonissue as she had worked throughout high school & I do admit that finding internships at that point was less of a concern than finding money to pay EFC
