So…how do these compare, and why would a person choose one over the other?
Dickinson
Lafayette
F&M
Bucknell
Gettysburg
From what I have read about them, they all seem pretty similar.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

bump-bump-bump

they're more similar than different. They are all in rural or small town areas (Easton=Lafayette is a little bigger). Lafayette is probably the least remote. Also it and Bucknell have a larger feel because of Patriot League sports, the other 3 are D3. Bucknell and Lafayette are more selective. F&M is known for premed, Gettysburg and Dickinson (extensive study abroad program) are basically liberal arts schools, so are Lafayette and Bucknell but they also have engineering (I think Bucknell does). I'd group Lafayette with Bucknell, and group the other 3 together along with Muhlenberg, Ursinus.

I'm interested in this as well. I know Lafayette has a good engineering/science program, which is why I'm looking into it very seriously. I also liked Dickinson because of the language program, but I've been told that the academics at Dickinson are significantly lesser than the academics at Lafayette. Does anyone have any comments on this?

I know that the engineering/science at Lafayette is highly regarded, and that it is something of a hidden gem in that respect. It's a very good school that offers significant merit aid (similar to F&M). I don't know much about Dickinson, except that its law school turns out a lot of Pennsylvania politicians.

There are a lot of people in industry who think better of Bucknell's engineering - specifically chem., civil and mech. - than most any other smaller LAC. Their biomed program is still in early stages - just admitted its thrid class, but seems to be going very well.

Would you suggest the 3-3 Dickinson law program?

Lafayette academics would be higher than Dickinson if only because it's more selective and the kids have higher stats by a decent amount.

Dickinson Law School is not affiliated with Dickinson College...it is actually Penn State's Law School.

thats right psu!!lol

Would you say that Lafayette is a good destination for a potential premed-er?
