Are Harvard Kennedy, Columbia SIPA, Berkeley, Chicago, and Georgetown (GPPI) regarded pretty much the same in the domestic policy world, even though their rankings are a bit divergent? How about schools that are ranked highly but have less name cache, like Syracuse, Georgia, and Indiana?

Is it worth it to go to Harvard even if it will cost twice as much as it would to go to Georgetown, if Harvard is where you want to be?

Didn’t you say you had already picked HKS in another thread? Can we still help you or is the decision already made?

It will be final on Monday, so at this point the issue is more academic than practical. I think it’s deadline nerves, but I’m still curious as to what the landscape is out there for the different schools.

bump…im interested in knowing is there MUCH difference in going to HKS vs. Columbia SIPA. I personally prefer SIPA’s location since I live in NYC and plan on staying there career wise.

Well I am originally from DC and from my experience, Georgetown is a very highly regarded school in the area. If you really want to go to Harvard and you think that is where you need to be, then choose it. But be warned, this field doesn’t pay very well so you may not want to end up in a great deal of debt just to go to Harvard. Will you make more money if you go to Harvard over Georgetown? Doubtful.
