Franklin and marshall VS Colby college
Which one should I choose for early decision?
This is a very personal decision and nobody here can answer that for you. Make a list of pros and cons and see if it helps clarify your thoughts.
The ED cycle has passed for this year so you must be thinking for next year. If that is the case it’s a little early to choose now. Keep an open mind and keep learning about and visiting different schools.
i mean could anyone who attended either one of them share with me their experience? im an international student that’s why it is hard for me to visit each one
I graduated from Colby a long time ago, so I can only speak to the two things that haven’t changed, the location and the weather. Maine is a great, unique place, but for a lot of the school year it’s pretty cold. That’s not necessarily bad, but it’s something you need to take into consideration.
The campus is a mile or two (I forget, but not walking distance), to Waterville proper. It’s up on a hill in it’s own little world. Again, that could be good or bad depending on your outlook. I was in Waterville a couple of years ago, and now, like then, it’s an ok, if fairly unexciting place. Colby seems to be trying to engage more with Waterville, so it will be interesting to see where that goes.
I love Maine, but that’s me. My wife and I are thinking about retiring there in a few years. I’m trying to get my D21 to consider Colby, but it may not be her kind of place.
I don’t know anything about F&M, but it looks like it’s right in Lancaster, so that’s a pretty big differentiator right there. It’s probably not “as” cold, but for the most part in the northeastern US, winter is winter.
There’s also the all important matter of the mascot. Mules vs Diplomats(?). Well never mind then.
Good luck to you.
