Comparisons to U.S. schools

Which schools in the U.S. do you think are most similar to Mcgill - first, in prestige, second, in everything else (size, location, students, atmosphere)? Just curious.

mcgill is one of the most distinguished and recognized universities in the world- the US has so many universities and many of them top notch. If McGill were added to US rankings I think it would fall somewhere within the top 25 if not higher- its a huge research university so the ivies and schools like John Hopkins and UMich and NYU compare quite closely- it all depends on program though- but in all around undergraduate education its pretty tops.
Its location has to be #1! Seriously I can't imagine a better college town then Montreal, or a better place to culturally educate yourself, its absolutely amazing! Schools in big cities like Boston, Chicago, New York, are great but honestly Montreal is so extremely cosmopolitan and it caters to the college youth (18 is legal age here) its awesome!
The student body I'd compare to any large university, only more diverse. But you've got your fair share of different political views etc- although McGill is much more left leaning.

:) thanks, that seems like a fair assessment
