Just kidding about the compassionate part. Be honest. Be critical.

I'm applying to Stanford, UPenn, Duke, Rice, Brown, and Cornell. I have done several short answers/essays. It'd be great if i can get some feedback.

Also... i'm kinda worried that my essays don't show enough about my personality. I end up describing the situation and focus too little on what it influenced me to do. I don't know if all good essays are like that though.

And are sob stories boring? Would it be bad if i mentioned how my emotionless father commented on how hard i worked last year, and right after, i went into my room and for some reason, started to cry?

I more than willing to read your essays … on the condition that you’re willing to read mine as well (that way we can discourage cheating and such). I will be applying to Brown and Stanford as well and I am looking for feedback for my essays, as I have finished writing them.

I would really appreciate it if we can exchange essays … however, if you’re not willing to because you don’t trust me, I’ll create a thread that slanders blueducky here on CC … JUST KIDDING! I’ll understand if you don’t choose to send me your essays, because some CC posters are suspicious because they only send a simple sentence as a reply, such as “This essay is solid.” I hate it when that happens because sometimes you have know idea whether they stole your essay or not.

I would be happy to take a look, FYI my younger son is attending one of the schools you list…and was admitted to others you reference. I would note that I tend to be very candid with comments given th enature of my carrer. Also I was always honest with my kids when I thought their work excelled and let them know when they fell short. I guess since I can measure your essays against ones tht led to admissions I can give you some kind of informed idea of how good they are- but that would just be my opinion. Warning - I am a lousy typist ..
