I heard that undergraduate students have to compete with grad students for roles in shows? Does anyone know what their policy really is? Thanks!

Hi nightingal - I’ve attached a link the school’s casting policy.

[SCHOOL OF THEATRE CASTING POLICY](http://www.callboard.theatre.psu.edu/castingpolicy.htm)

My D is a sophomore and has had the good fortune of being cast in a mainstage show her freshman year and 2 during this, her soph year… as well as being cast in non musicals for projects for 2 of the MFA Director’s diagnostics shows. There are many shows during the year and many casting opportunities besides the mainstage shows. I suppose, yes, they are in competition with the grad actors, but the grad actors are not specifically MT, but acting, so they tend to be cast more in the non-musical shows, although not exclusively. In our 2 year experience, the casting of most mainstage musicals has been from BFA MT’s. Hope this info helps!

That was very helpful! Thank you so much!
