How much more competitive is it at Pratt in comparison with Trinity in general?

1450-1550 middle 50% last year's class.. compared to 1370-1510 or something

its very competitive, but all they really care about is SAT score.. ive seen people on prstats get in with 1540 but 3.5 gpa....

I'm not so convinced that standardized test scores are all that important - yes, the stats are impressive. For engineering students, the math (on the SAT) and the math and science (on the SAT II and ACT) are weighted much more heavily in the decision-making process.

That's really good, considering I totally screwed up my freshman year, ending up with a 3.0, but straight A's ever since. Haha, that really encourages me thx!

its discouraging for me... i have gotten a 4.0 all three years, taken every single math and science course at my school (except ap bio), and even taken a physics course at uva, got a 5 on ap calc last year, but yet i have a 1350... and there is no way i will get in.. just because i have a 1350.

bsbllallstr8: don't be so pessimistic. 1350 on you SAT is fine. Did you not also take the ACT? It is my understanding that Pratt weights the math (SAT I and ACT) and science (SAT II and ACT) much more heavily in their evaluation. (Standardized test scores are at the bottom of the "order of importance" for Duke applications).

not for engineering though..
720 SAT I math
780 SAT II math IIC
35 ACT Math
5 AP Calc AB
4 AP Calc BC
took physics SAT II today, dec 4th..... probably 780+

http://www.*************2008/display.php?user=tenniscassieo <- rejected low SAT math female, amazing rank

http://www.*************2008/display.php?user=abstractia <- accepted, 3.6gpa uw(LOW) 20/400 rank (ok) but really high SAT's 1500+

anyone know how to make the links work? the stats are at www.prstats.com under class of 2008

oh icic. hehe how about inside the pratt engineering school--in terms of workload, freetime, etc. thx guys!

Please don't get discouraged. As has been mentioned before, it's impossible to predict, and I'm convinced that Duke and many other schools truly do look at the total picture - there's no set formula...even for Pratt.

bsbllallstr8 - my son's stat's were very similar to yours. I don't remember each individual test right now, but he had a 4.0, a 32 Composite on the ACT and 1390 on SAT I. His SAT II's were somewhere in the 690-720 ranges if I remember right. I remember his frustration with his standardized test scores when he was just SURE they would keep him from being accepted. He's not a recruited athlete, urm, or legacy, but he IS now enrolled iin Pratt (and doing quite well I might add!).

Good luck, and once again, realize that anything can happen if you've been a strong student and put together the best application possible.

SWEEET! =) i feel much better now.. esp. since i am top 1.2% at my high school, and work part time at an engineering firm in my town.. (550+ hours over the last year). also i have taken a physics class at uva.. sooo... that prolly wont look bad
