Competition for 2011

I'm not applying to ivies. I'm not applying to top25 (except for UMich and maybe Carnegie Mellon and Emory). I'm not applying to colleges where the Asian population exceeds other ethnic groups because asians=INSANE competition etc. Anyways so yeah I'm not worried about any of those places rejecting me. :)

Business or economics is offered at almost every school on the face of the planet so yeah hahahah :D

^ lol.. me neither..except for U mich ..and that's if im feeling it. lol. Such a waste of my time..their are colleges out there with my major that i dont even have to stress about getting into. i mean it's never a sure shot...i learned that lesson a long time ago, but for the most part, the ivies can kiss my black **s.

-excuse my french

bleh my grade (07) is ridiculously competitive
today we won the highest GPA cup in the highschool, we have 46% national merit and a suuupppper high AP avg (28 out of 35 last yr got 5s in AP Euro)......next year should be interesting

sydo, what state are you?

ohio.....southwest to be exact

'05= star athletes getting into schools that the val and sal got rejected/deferred from...only one National Merit semi-finalist, pretty smart group..

'06= half of the top ten are arrogant, the other half are weird (obsessed with anime), bright, the val is going to brown and he's two faced, most of them are going to in-state schools, because they can't afford to go out of state

'07= three National Semi-Finalists, this class is quirky, hard-working, competitive in a cooperative manner

'08= class with the most sense of humor, has the most slackers, but the top ten percent are very bright, and well-rounded, very competitive...talk to the wrong person and they might stab you in the back..

'09= immature, weird, very hyper, inexperienced, but there's one thing that they have that is better than all the other classes...they like to learn for the sake of learning...rather than for the grades..also has the most stoners...

CLASS OF '07 RIGHT HERE!!!

'06 at my school seems to be a smart but chill group, they do well but aren't competitive with each other so much.

'07 (my class) is a mix of ridiculously competitive and not caring at all.

'05 is lame. I hate them all. Really cutthroat and mean.

'04 are cool kids, I like a lot of them.

I think there are just more kids applying to more schools than ever before. So yes, since there are more students, it is somewhat more competitive, but since they can only go to one school it's not as bad as some statistics make it look.

And of course there are really competitive kids here. Think about it, our peers are off playing video games and drinking while we log hours on a website talking about an event (college apps) that is, at the least, a few months away from even starting?

05: One of the smartest classes ever.
06: Really laidback. Not competitive whatsoever.
07: A mix of party kids and competitive kids.
08: Really mean and aggressive.

At my public school I would look at the number of kids on the honor roll and '07 would consistently have the fewest. So I thought there was hope. Oh well....

'04 - spectacular.
'05 - talented, but somewhat underperforming
'06 - almost as genius at 04
'07 - VERY underachieving. Lots of smart students, but few that actually stand out.
'08 - an overachieving class. At least 15 students in Chemistry AP (supposed to be Chem Honors) and 5 students in Calculus BC by 05-06 school year. I even know an 08er who took the Chem AP test even though she took Chemistry Honors.
'09 - very lagging - they had SO MANY people run for ASB office, but above all seem to be very apathetic about everything else. They seem like the class that's completely pushed by Asian parents.

We have an even-odd year trend. I'm in the odd year, which would be good, except I can't exactly take advantage of it because I'm typically boring too.

at my school, intelligence seems to be peaking with my class (2007). The classes of '08 & '09 dont seem to stand out and show their intelligence. In my class of 700+, close to 300 have 4.0s and higher. The competition to get into elite schools will be very tough for the class of 2011. I'm applying to 5 Ivy Leagues (no HYP), NYU, Tufts, Northwestern & UC's...for sure.

My school definitely peaked at 2006 (highest amount of HYPSM acceptances, SAT scores, AP scores...). It's actually pretty sad because whenever our class (2006) jokes around and tells 2007 they're going nowhere interms of college and life, they don't deny it. Once we left, the head counselor decided to leave, along with half the teachers. I guess they wanted to end on a high note.
